Joseph BEUYS
Joseph Beuys was born in 1921 in Krefeld, Germany. He died in 1986 in Düsseldorf.
Joseph Beuys is undoubtedly one of the most influential and controversial artists of the 20th century. His significance in contemporary art is paramount for having brought a new dimension to the expanded notion of art. Today, he is seen as a visionary artist who attempted to expose and rectify a defective social contract: advocating for students and social minorities, environmental causes, and democracy. His approach, which was simultaneously scientific, political, humanistic, and social, makes his work essential and enlightening today more than ever to understand the crises we are going through.
