L'Homme de Bessines
Wood from La Vallée, Drip Irrigation System, 200 ✗ 70 ✗ 40 cm
"In 1991, the Man from Bessines arrived in the village bearing his name. Since then, he has spread throughout the world. He has been cloned in various materials: from bronze to epoxy, from polyester to porcelain; his dimensions and even gender vary... he mutates. Here, it is the wood from La Vallée that composes him, a forest that I began planting at the birth of the Man from Bessines over thirty years ago. The Man from Bessines in Melle oozes and gradually reveals mosses that will give the original green color if spores adhere to it. The work is ephemeral. It exists just long enough to realize our fragilities."
