Bruno Serralongue interrogates the procedures of production and dissemination of information through images. Events scheduled on the agenda of mass media, from village festivals to global summits, constitute his working material. Operating akin to a photo-reporter who acts as his own commissioner, he travels to these locations. However, not being part of the press staff and lacking specific accreditation, he operates outside the reserved and marked zones, adopting a displaced and distanced viewpoint.
In 2023, thousands of people gathered in Deux-Sèvres to protest against the construction of mega-reservoirs near the town of Sainte-Soline. The event was extensively covered by national and international media. Bruno Serralongue participated in the recent demonstrations, capturing photographs of the event on the margins of the spectacular recording of the clash that allows traditional media to capitalize on the sensationalism of the confrontations between police and activists. The captions of the images amplify their historical dimension and place them within the grand tradition of political art.
