Aqui et Mismo, série "silbadores"
Silver gelatin black and white photographs, 120 x 80 cm each
Cécile Le Talec's artistic approach has evolved over the years, particularly focusing on questions related to the perception of space through its auditory, musical, or linguistic dimensions. In her work, voice becomes a true material, both plastic and poetic, from which she explores the boundaries between language, music, and space. Since the early 2000s, she has been researching whistled languages used by several communities around the world, leading her to conduct a series of expeditions to various countries. "Everything is music. Through sight, one can find sound and melody everywhere." Aqui et Mismo photographs two whistlers communicating in silbo (a whistled language practiced on the island of La Gomera / Canary Islands) from a distance: emitter and receiver, the messengers call and respond ("where are you / I am here") without seeing each other.
