"Olivier Leroi is an original. Through his preferred themes, often contextual and linked to his immediate and instinctive experience of the land; through his manner of doing things, also tongue-in-cheek; and finally, through the absolute singularity of his works. Making the first snow fall in Mali, in Dogon country, at the heart of a tropical African zone; organizing an event with trees; using the model of a dog's kennel to illustrate the principle of perspective... With Olivier Leroi, art evidently performs miracles. Infused with a gentle magic but also mischief, Olivier Leroi's work defies any classification. Developing in the studio as well as in the nearby meadow, in deserts as well as in Chambord Castle or along some river in central France, it favors life and whimsy, without any disenchantment. In summary, it is a creation far from melancholy, expressing an enchanted and euphoric relationship with the world."
