Marie SIRGUE
Marie Sirgue was born in 1985 in Châteauroux in Indre. She lives and works in Boivre-la-Vallée and Poitiers, in Vienne.
By appropriating the most common objects, Marie Sirgue takes part in the world to transform it. Transmission, recreation, repetition, his way of creating begins through the discovery, learning or mastery of a technique and a gesture. She moves back and forth between the form and its support to explore what constitutes the human community by shifting the gaze. Whether her experiments take her towards the rural or urban world, towards games or sports, these pieces of reality allow her to explore contemporary rituals. By questioning shape, size, texture, surface, she gives new existence to objects. If she does not seek beauty, she constantly confronts it as her work reveals a sensitivity to the world around her. For the artist, it’s all about encounters. With the territories and contexts, the techniques and materials, those that she inspires with each person with whom she cooperates, and finally with the audiences that she considers to be her accomplices. All reveal the importance she places on the place of the other. In her relationship to the context, she surveys, observes, gleans and harvests to draw threads. His field investigations are part of a tangible reality and everything is a pretext for adventure. With each of his projects, avenues emerge, series are extended.[...]
