By appropriating the most common objects, Marie Sirgue engages with the world to transform it. Transmission, recreation, repetition—her creative process begins with discovery, learning, or mastering a technique and a gesture. She moves back and forth between form and its support to explore what constitutes human community by shifting perspectives. Whether her experiments lead her to rural or urban settings, games or sports, these fragments of reality allow her to explore contemporary rituals. By questioning form, size, texture, and surface, she gives new life to objects. While not seeking beauty, she constantly confronts it, revealing a sensitivity to the world around her [...].

Marie Sirgue was born in 1985 in Châteauroux in Indre. She lives and works in Boivre-la-Vallée and Poitiers, in Vienne.
