Mona CARA
Mona Cara was born in 1997 in Hyères. She lives and works in Paris.
"At the crossroads between historical tapestry, painting, and comics, I weave chaotic and burning contemporary narratives. The crackling entanglements reveal creatures in constant upheaval. These are often gadgets of overconsumption, which, as if awakened and driven by an absurd spell, provoke or suffer a catastrophe. The tsunami wave recedes, revealing more intimate fibers: underlying are the joys and sorrows of a possible psychic overflow, personal or collective? It is in a jacquard weaving factory that I program and weave these deliquescent intrications, to then mend them by hand, invoking other skills. One foot in mass production, the other in craftsmanship, I am interested in unpicking the gestures of these techniques as well as the symbols surrounding my pieces."
