At the intersection of tapestry and comic strip, Mona Cara weaves hybrid textile pieces that transform the chaos of the world into a joyful apocalypse. To explore the pictorial and sculptural forms of warp and weft threads, she combines craftsmanship with techniques inherited from industry, such as Jacquard weaving, which allows her to programmatically weave complex patterns and diverse textures. Drawing on references from children's imagery—from Teletubbies to Peppa Pig—the artist takes a path of detour and humor to examine, in her tragicomic pieces, the dysfunctions of contemporary society.
