Poster Objects
Screen prints on various materials, 56 x 35.5 cm each
Allen Ruppersberg's *Poster Objects* are literally to be understood as poster-objects that combine the concept of the poster (as a slogan paired with effective graphics) with the way it is presented, its medium, and its display. Silkscreened on the most improbable materials (lead, silk, glass, etc.), their content is no less corrosive: slogans taken from election campaign posters, game shows (for or against - true or false, adventure not progress - progress not adventure), advertisements (is one thing better than another), reappropriated and subverted sayings (the color of perfection is pink), and philosophico-existential assertions (why do we fail, where should I go) play on the nature of language, both communicative and fictional.
