Lois WEINBERGER

Lois Weinberger was born in 1947 in Stams, Austria. He died in 2020 in Vienna, Austria.

Since the early 1970s, Lois Weinberger, who considered himself a man in the field, has undertaken poetic and political work questioning our direct environment, whether natural or modified by man. Taking a benevolent look at a free and spontaneous nature, the artist delicately reveals marginal areas and thereby questions us about the hierarchical values of our society. Ruderal plants – “Weeds” – are one of the main sources of inspiration for his work which are the origin of a multitude of notes, drawings, photographs, text objects, films and important installations in the public space.
